Realtor of the Week: Architecture experience helps Realtor sell dream homes
Realtor Kenneth Kottwitz with Bernstein Realty, a Houston native who has an architecture and design background, enjoys connecting homeowners with homes they love.
He works throughout the Houston area.
“I love the diversity in real estate that each part of the city brings and want to provide my clients with a broad knowledge on the market areas to help them define the best place they can call home,” Kottwitz said.
While growing up in Memorial Villages, Kottwitz, who currently resides in the Energy Corridor, explained how Houston’s neighborhoods are unique.
“I love the neighborhood environment in this part of Houston and still love seeing the variety of homes mixed together now both old and new,” he said. “I moved away to study architecture in Colorado at the University of Colorado at Boulder. My wife and I moved back to Texas to be close to my family once we knew we were ready to start a family of our own.”
Kottwitz’s former career in architecture and design fostered a love for creating space that people live and interact in. He worked for Davis Partnership Architects, one of the leading commercial architecture firms in the Western Slope and developed skills in commercial building designs and clients’ interaction to spaces. He later worked for Mosaic Architects and Index AD in Boulder, Colorado with high-end, single-family projects.
With this experience, Kottwitz said that he gained experience in both new-builds and remodels, developing everything from floor plans to finish packages and designing custom furniture.
Kottwitz chose real estate as his next career as he always loved architecture, design and studying what makes a house a home for his clients.
“Working on this side of the field always intrigued me,” Kottwitz said. “Exploring various houses across Houston and helping find the perfect fit for someone is very rewarding.”
His experience has led Kottwitz to have an insightful perspective on real estate.
“I believe I have an advantage when looking at a home. I see things differently, I look at its longevity, sometimes its potential, if looking for a remodel, and can use that knowledge to help guide my clients with the decision-making process, inspections, potential red flags and my favorite, new design ideas,” Kottwitz said.
Kottwitz said that he strives to make home buying a great experience.
“My goal is to gain your trust, I always hope to gain a friendship and want to ensure that we are making the best decision for you and what you will call home,” he said.
