Amy Bernstein founded Bernstein Realty in January of 1985 as a way to combine her two greatest passions – people and real estate. Bernstein holds a Bachelor of Science degree in education from The University of Texas at Austin and in addition to her Texas Real Estate license, has also earned her Graduate Realtor® Institute {GRI} designation. Bernstein’s knowledge regarding current trends of the local real estate market and her unmatched negotiation skills make her an invaluable resource to her clients. She is also consulted regularly by the local media, including The Houston Chronicle, the Houston Business Journal, Ralph Bivin’s Realty News Report, CultureMap and Houston’s NBC affiliate, Channel 2. She has also appeared on several radio shows and has been a guest on Beyond the Headlines and Debra Duncan’s show, Great Day Houston, on KHOU. Amy has also been invited to participate on several panels at local events including the Houston Business Journal’s Powerful Women: Executive Women in Business.

In 2002, Bernstein co-founded the Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation {NOMF}, which is dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research. Bernstein, along with a committee comprised of Realtors® and friends created this nonprofit organization to honor Bernstein’s best friend and mentor, Nancy Owens, one of the most loved and respected members of Houston’s real estate community. Sadly, Owens lost her battle with breast cancer in 2001; however, since that time NOMF has raised and contributed over 1.5 million dollars to benefit breast cancer research through the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, The Department of Nanomedicine Houston Methodist Research Institute and The Susan G. Komen Houston Affiliate. Since its inception in 2002, Bernstein has served as Chairperson for NOMF committee. In 2002, Amy Bernstein received the Houston Association of Realtors® John E. Wolf Community Service Award. In 2006, Bernstein along with the NOMF Committee received the John E. Wolf Community Service Award for all of their contributions. In 2018, the Foundation changed their name to be The Nancy Owens Breast Cancer Foundation to be more in line with their mission statement. The Nancy Owens Breast Cancer Foundation continues to receive tremendous support from the community, local media and press to find a cure for breast cancer.
