Realtor of the Week: Veteran Realtor shows greater Heights-area homes
Realtor Terri Guerra with Bernstein Realty enjoys sharing Houston’s Inner Loop neighborhoods with clients.
As a proud native Houstonian who has lived in the Heights since 1989, Guerra’s focus includes The Heights, Garden Oaks, Oak Forest, Timbergrove, and Rice Military. Now is an excellent time for this market, which is always booming, she said.
“There is so much happening here that you rarely need to leave the neighborhood,” said Guerra. “There are exciting and diverse restaurants and night life. Boutique and specialty shopping is at an all-time high.”
Guerra said the area is very walkable, with nearby shops, bars, and restaurants, and has the hike-and-bike trail running through the neighborhood.
“Many think that the Heights is not affordable, but there are numerous homes on the market from small bungalows or condominiums to the multimillion-dollar homes. Living here is a great investment financially and will remain strong well into the future,” she said.
As a veteran Realtor with more 30 years of experience, Guerra has been a member of the Texas Association of Realtors Ethics and Professional Standards Committee Member since 2001. She is also a Certified Seller Representative, Accredited Home Staging Specialist and Certified Relocation Professional.
Guerra fell into the business after started working in a commercial construction office in 1980, and later went on to work for a real estate entrepreneur in the bookkeeping department.
“My boss started teaching me the ropes of buying and selling in the commercial real estate industry. I eventually made the transition to residential real estate over 33 years ago and have never looked back,” she said.
She also said that this experience taught accountability and the importance of communication. Guerra stated she’s also worked in the legal field and the title business.
Her key personal traits include honesty, being a good listener and working in the best interests of her clients.
“I tell my clients what they need to hear. This can be difficult, but it leads to happier, more-satisfied clients long term. I ask a lot of questions. The more they open up, the better I can find what they are looking for. I work in the best interest of my client. I work hard to get them the best deal I can,” said Guerra.
Guerra is passionate about her community and serves as the chairman for The Nancy Owens Breast Cancer Foundation and sits on their board of directors. She’s also a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo volunteer working on the wine events committee.
